Rootnet of Dreams: A Collective Movement for Future Dreaming
What future are you dreaming of?
What future is the planet dreaming of?
How can you contribute to making these dreams a reality?
Rootnet of Dreams is more than a method—it is a transformative workshop format designed to spark and sustain essential conversations about the future. It provides a structured framework for envisioning the futures we aspire to create, offering space for deep reflection and thoughtful engagement. This process is driven by the urgent need to dream positively, both for ourselves and for the planet.
Rootnet of Dreams invites collective action, a grassroots movement of dreamers, united by a belief in the transformative power of dreams. Drawing on ancient indigenous traditions from North America, participants create dreamcatchers grown from living wheatgrass roots during the workshop. Nurtured by each participant, these artifacts symbolize hope and encourage staying grounded while envisioning a thriving future for the Earth.
This project originated during my exchange to Berlin at Weißensee Kunsthochschule as part of my fourth semester, within a course focused on addressing climate change and the green transition. Rootnet of Dreams draws on concepts that support planetary dreaming and aims to develop a method and workshop format for nurturing such visions.
The goal of this documentation of my workshop is to inspire others to facilitate similar processes, with the hope that the sharing of dreams continues, and the network of dreamers keeps expanding. Feel free to reach out to me and to draw inspiration from the images from the workshop.
The next step for this project is to create a digital platform that can visualize the diverse dreams and connections among the dreamers, illustrating the expanding root network. This platform aims to strengthen the sense of interconnectedness, embodying John Lennon’s words: “You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.”
